Mallorca Atlas The island, verified

About

An independent site about Mallorca, written by someone who walks the island and checks the facts before publishing them.

Who writes this

I am 27 and I was born in Mallorca, where I have lived all my life: first in Cala Figuera, in the south-east, then in Palma. I studied and worked off the island — Barcelona and Madrid — and I have travelled through more than forty countries. Enough to know what someone arriving here for the first time is looking for, and what they miss.

What you will find here, and what you will not

I like the quiet Mallorca: the coves outside August, the villages in the late afternoon, the sunsets and eating well without ceremony. I am the wrong person to ask about the party circuit, and this site does not cover it. It does cover what stays open out of season, how you actually reach each place, and which rules are worth knowing before you go.

How I work

I go to the places, take the photographs, and check every figure against the official source, which is linked at the end of the article. Every page carries the date I last verified it; when something changes, I change it here and move the date.

Why I write under a pen name

Guillem Talaia is a pen name. It is not my legal name and I am not pretending otherwise. I write about the island, not about myself, and I would rather the attention stayed on the places and the facts. Everything else is real: the visits, the photographs — all mine — and the person who answers the email.
